Glitz, glamor and fun! That's what a person should be thinking when they see a Gogo on that box. As we move in the crowd searching for permission to get wild, freaky, sexy or however you choose to express yourself its never the same with out those talented dancers creating the energy to rock the room. However, it is my experience to see some Gogo's shine more than others as they all have unique qualities or personalities that set them apart. Mix that image with the body banging beats of the hottest DJ's in your favorite club and you'll be sure to groove into a night full of fun but not all Gogos are the same. Every once in a while you run into something special. This months Gogo is just that something special. Some people are are just "Go-happy" types. This months is Gogo-Happy!
This small city girl with big city dreams comes from the state of Colorado where she first began shaking on that box while in high school at a local club. Shortly after her dreams and ambitions out grew her little citie's limits she traveled to Arizona where eventually she began working with Eventvibe. After four years of dancing and completing a degree in business at Arizona State University she journeyed into bigger goals and eventually made her way into San Diego's night life.
This is my short online interview with the biggest smile you'll ever see on any Gogo in San Diego. I present to you the intelligent, driven, vibrant and always smiling Little Lisa of Eventvibe Gogos.
DYSMD: So Lisa I am going to cover a few topics with you. Some will be professional and some will be personal. I like the personal stuff so lets get that out of the way first. I did my research on a few topics that I felt would bring out the personal side of you. So lets start with "What is Fort Collins, Colorado?".
Little Lisa: Ah, Fort Fun. Well that's where I was born and raised. I graduated from high school and got out ASAP. It's a beautiful place to live but not enough action there for me.
DYSMD: LOL! That is what I figured. I researched the city and found it to be a big city with a small town atmosphere. About 137,000 population with all the big city amenities. I think its a very beautiful place.....but why was it too small? What were your ambitions for leaving?
Little Lisa: Wow, 137,000...now?! It feels like a town of about 137 people. LOL! A lot of people I grew up with never left Fort Collins and were content with staying there after graduation, getting a job, and starting a family. Even from a young age I always new I wanted to experience more "city" life and a more diverse environment. In fact when I was in high school I thought someday I would open my own nightclub in a big city.
DYSMD: Awesome! I know exactly what you mean. I was raised in a small town of 5,000 were everyone new each other and I was like "I gotta get out of here and experience life!". Opening a night club was always part of the vision as well....and for that reason I took up business. So was going to ASU the open door to explore?
Little Lisa: Ok...5000 you definitely have me beat in the small town department!! I toured ASU in November my senior year of high school. It was 90 degrees and I played golf plus laid by the pool and that pretty much made my decision of where to go to college! ASU definitely opened many opportunities for me both professionally and personally. After all ASU is quite the party school.
DYSMD: Hmmm, so was it during the time at ASU that you began gogoing?
Little Lisa: Yes but you can really say it all started in Fort Collins. I promoted for a local club while in high school for their teen nights. They used to have these booty shakin contests where girls would get on a box and dance and the crowd picked a winner. I was always up there shakin it! Then in Arizona I met Jay Mayer and he talked to me about starting this California company called Eventvibe out in Phoenix. A group of us girls started dancing at events for free and word spread quickly and before I knew it we were getting booked to dance at all kinds of events. That was over six years ago and now Eventvibe is the number one promotion company in Phoenix. Crazy how time flies!
DYSMD: Oh wow....so this is how it all got started for you. Helping build the dancing energy at Eventvibe Phoenix. What inspired or who has inspired you to take part in making Eventvibe the success that it has through out your time with the company?
Little Lisa: One of the things that I have really enjoyed about my time with Eventvibe is the company's committment to the scene and music in general. I have had the opportunity to be part of some amazing events from dancing for Tiesto at Myst in Phoenix to dancing for ATB this past New Years Eve at the Torrey Pines in La Jolla. Tim Ortiz, the founder of Eventvibe, is always bringing the best DJ's and shows to all parts of the country as well as finding new talents and migrating them into the Eventvibe family. That's what has inspired me to continue working with Eventvibe over the past six years. We are like a little family...that all love music and great parties. LOL
DYSMD: That sounds like a lifestyle of fun! So now your in San Diego. Tell us what your doing here so far away from home and school?
Little Lisa: Well I've always loved Southern California. One day I decided if there's ever a time in my life to move and try something different now is that time. So I put in a request for a transfer at work and just over a year later here I am and loving it!!! San Diego is probably one of the most amazing places to live and the scene here is great.
DYSMD: Yes, it is America's Finest City! What do you plan on doing with your gogo career and where can we see you perform?
Little Lisa: I will continue to shake my ass..hehe...as long as the clubs keep asking me to come back. Dancing is my outlet and one true love. I am very passionate about music and love the rush of dancing and feeding off the energy and vibe of the crowd. I currently dance at On Broadway, Belo, and for Eventvibe events like Sundaze at Wavehouse!
DYSMD: LOL! Very busy woman...just like the day...busy...busy...busy...(in reference to an "offline" conversation). I can only imagine that your just as busy on that box! What is your intention for a guest at an event to experience in the energy of celebration that both you and all gogos envision to bring into the party?
Little Lisa: Yes, I like to stay busy...keeps me out of trouble...sometimes! As a gogo I always want to get the crowd pumped up and get people excited about the experience of being at an event with great music and energy. I want guests to walk away at the end of the night with a memorable experience of being at a kick ass event. I feel like a lot of dancers share that same vision of wanting everyone to have as much fun as we are up there dancing!!
DYSMD: Gogos definitely bring that energy! I am sure that is something that all can admit. So lets wrap up this interview. Who would you like to thank and give credit for supporting you in your career and experience as a gogo?
Little Lisa: Oooh good question. I would like to thank Jay Mayer and Vance Rogers out in AZ for sharing their vision of Eventvibe with me and including me in building up a great network out there. I would also like to give special thanks to Tim Ortiz and Bobby Reyes for embracing me into the Eventvibe family when I moved out here last year. They helped me get started dancing in San Diego and continue to book me for all of their awesome events!!
Little Lisa: Ahh the life. Just living the dream.
DYSMD: HAHA. Thank you Lisa. I enjoyed getting to know you a bit more. You genuinely have a fun energy around you!
Little Lisa: Awesome! Thank you so much for interviewing me Rob. I really enjoyed it!!
