Ashley: I like it here (in San Diego). I started my college career at the University of Nebraska as a soccer player for the Corn Huskers before transferring out here. I can definitely say I love it here and don't see myself leaving Southern California.
dysmd: That’s great! So, what’s next for you?
Ashley: Well I want to graduate and hopefully become a successful interior designer and maybe down the line an architect. Also, since the end of my soccer career I’ve kind of fallen into modeling and so far everything has been really good... I feel very fortunate.
dysmd: Yeah, I read in your Myspace profile that you’re into Design, Poetry and Modeling. Do you see any connections with all three?
Ashley: They are all different ways of expressing myself physically and emotionally. I like to capture moments through bits and pieces, whether its a quote, picture, or accent piece in a room. To me, everything has a meaning and a message to be heard.
dysmd: Do you write poetry or just read poetry?
Ashley: I read mostly, I've tried to write it but its not exactly one of my strong points
dysmd: Where do you want to take your modeling career?
Ashley: As far as it will let me. I would definitely like to make it on the runway and do some high fashion. I want to be well rounded but in the end be an inspiration to young girls that being bigger, curvy, and above all, healthy is beautiful!
dysmd: What inspires you?
Ashley: Besides God, my parents, they're the most generous and humble people I know. I don't know where I would be without them today. I'm huge on family!!
Ashley: A little about me people don't know is that I love to work with "at risk" youth. This summer I worked at Monarch School, which is a school for homeless kids. I worked as an after school program coordinator. It was very rewarding to be able to make the difference and be a role model to youth without any support.
dysmd: That’s a huge contribution. You strike me as a very open and honest person who has a lot to give to others.
dysmd: To change the subject, what’s your relationship status?
Ashley: Well, I've been single for a while, but, I guess you could say I just met someone very special.
dysmd: Nice. What qualities do you look for in a boyfriend?
Ashley: I'm a sucker for the bad boys and having some street smarts is a must. Somebody who makes me feel safe and protected and has to be family-oriented and driven to succeed in what he wants to do. Lazy men who do not know how to treat a woman are complete turnoffs!
dysmd: How does a woman like you want to be treated?
Ashley: Like an equal and with respect. I want that Bonnie and Clyde 07 type of relationship.
dysmd: That's passion, dedication and good crazy love! Totally attainable and well worth the experience.
Ashley: Yup! Wouldn't have it any other way
dysmd: At the least you’re a very passionate person. Last question: If today was the last day of the rest of your life what would you be out doing and why?
Ashley: I would be giving away everything I own to people that needed it and making sure that everybody that I loved or cared about knew it!!
Ashley: It’s been a pleasure chatting with you.
dysmd: Yes indeed!
Ashley: Thanks for choosing me to be featured on DYSMD.eMAGAZINE.
